The Ward Family has a long tradition of motor racing that spans across three generations. The family's long involvement with the sport began with Carl Ward, who raced from the late 1950's through to 1973.

A regular competitor in the prestigious Isle of Man T.T, Carl's best finish in the event was 6th place in 1971, in the lightweight 125 class. Not to be outdone, brother Steven Ward also competed in the T.T going one better, achieving a fantastic 3rd place in the 1995 Senior TT. Steven tragically died in April 1996 in Anderstorp, Sweden.

In 1997 he rode for 57 racing team Ducati in Britain. He finished 3rd in the Privateer Championship and has raced with the likes of Nial McKenzie & Jim Whithan.

Andy's cousin Paul Ward, also from Leeds, raced production bikes & also 125cc bikes in the Isle of Man GP, he is now retired.

The latest generation in the dynasty, Bradley Stephen Ward is 12 years old, and has been racing in the Dutch and German mx championships for the last 2 years in the 85cc championships on his Rabbit Racing/Team Green Kawasaki 85 (prepared by Dad-Andrew) He also raced in the USA this year and qualified for the 2008 Lotetta Lynn AMA Championships, which were held in Tennessee in August. This event is the biggest Armature event in the world. Over 25,000 people try to qualify throughout the whole USA, eventually they get down to the top 42 in each of the 32 classes. So for Bradley to reach the finals was a great achievement. We went over to Tennessee, a little unprepared, but we got there!! Bradley finished 21 in race 1, 23 in race 2 and crashed in the final moto and got a front puncture, which put him down the order, he finished 26th overall. We met some great people and next time will be a little more prepared. Those Yanks are pretty Quick!! Check out Bradleys Website for updates of his season - www.bradleywardracing.co.uk
